Atlantis Dubai Promotes Kym Barter to Managing Director

Atlantis Dubai has announced the promotion of Kym Barter to Managing Director, a role that places him at the helm of both Atlantis, The Palm and Atlantis The Royal. This leadership expansion gives Barter strategic oversight of the entire integrated portfolio, including 2,300 hotel rooms, over 50 restaurants and bars, and the Aquaventure World waterpark.

Barter now oversees a combined operation of 2,300 rooms and 50 restaurants. This includes managing the 105 slides and attractions at Aquaventure World and the marine habitats housing 65,000 animals. His remit involves bridging the heritage of the original 2008 resort with the newer, ultra-luxury segment of Atlantis The Royal

Barter joined the organisation in May 2021, initially serving as the Vice President of Food and Beverage. In this capacity, he managed one of the largest culinary operations in the region, which includes celebrity chef outposts such as Nobu, Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen, and the Michelin-starred Hakkasan. In July 2023, he was promoted to General Manager and Senior Vice President of Atlantis, The Palm, where he was responsible for the operational performance of the original 1,544-room resort.

During his tenure as General Manager, Atlantis, The Palm achieved several of its highest performance metrics since its 2008 opening. Under Barter’s direction, the resort maintained its standing as a primary culinary destination, with Ossiano and Hakkasan retaining their Michelin stars. The property also earned prestigious awards.

Barter brings over three decades of international experience to the Managing Director position. His career has spanned North America, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East, with a focus on luxury hospitality and large-scale resort management.

This deep background in diverse markets has been instrumental in navigating the dual demands of maintaining the legacy of Atlantis, The Palm while overseeing the market entry of Atlantis The Royal, which redefined the city’s ultra-luxury segment upon its launch.
