Dubai, UAE: From scrolling through photos of your dream vacation destination, to planning the perfect itinerary, a lot goes into travel planning. However, it looks like artificial intelligence (AI) is gradually changing how we research and organise our trips.
A new Kaspersky survey revealed that 28% of global travelers use AI to plan trips. While this number makes less than a third of global travellers, it won’t be surprising to see a significant increase in the percentage of people using AI as travel agents, over the coming years.
The study was conducted by Kaspersky’s market research center in partnership with the Toluna research provider in the summer of 2025. It included 3,000 respondents from 15 countries: UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, UK, China, Argentina, Chile, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, and Turkey.
Out of the 28% who said that they use AI, 96% confirmed that they were satisfied with their experience. An impressive 84% said they plan to use AI for future travel.
How AI helps plan trips
For those who use AI for travel planning, its most popular function is research. 70% of users trusted AI to find events, activities, and tourist routes. 66% used it to pick accommodation, and 60% used it to find restaurants.
AI-powered booking yet to catch up
Interestingly, AI-powered booking was less popular than research.
The survey found that 45% of travelers booked hotels with AI, 43% booked tickets, and only 38% booked restaurants. A significant 45% of participants even used AI to help with visa and migration questions.
This raises some concerns about the risks of AI, as wrong information could have major consequences.
Vladislav Tushkanov, Group Manager at Kaspersky AI Technology Research Center, says that AI is changing. Travellers value the personalised results it provides. He adds, “Already this technology is maturing and rapidly delivering on its promise of better research and generating creative ideas… we should still remember that the decision is ours to make.”
How to ensure your AI-planned trip is safe
To make sure your trip is safe, Kaspersky recommends the following:
Always double-check information that AI provides. Verify all websites before you make any purchases or bookings.
Use an eSIM to stay connected with family and friends while traveling.
Be careful with Wi-Fi. Avoid auto-joining hotspots and use a VPN.
Protect your devices. Do not leave them alone in crowded places. Use strong passwords and install a reliable security solution.
