The Hotel Show 2025, a top event for the Middle East and North Africa’s hospitality sector, officially opened its doors yesterday at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

The three-day exhibition, which runs until May 29, immediately became a hub for industry leaders, culinary pioneers, and technology innovators.

Discussions on the UAE’s remarkable culinary evolution and the strategic implementation of technology to maintain a ‘human-centric’ guest approach took centre stage.

The opening day also saw numerous new-to-market product launches, including a revolutionary AI-powered operational platform and an advanced sensory wellness lounger, underscoring the industry’s commitment to pushing boundaries.

A Grand Opening for a Growing Industry

Officially inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) and Chairman of Dubai Airports, The Hotel Show 2025 solidifies its position as the longest-running hospitality trade show in the Middle East.

Co-located with INDEX, WORKSPACE, and HITEC, the event provides a comprehensive platform for the entire hospitality ecosystem.

UAE’s Culinary Journey: From Melting Pot to Global Exporter

The Hospitality Leadership & F&B Forum, designed by KCA International and built by OK Middle East production, kicked off with an insightful executive think tank panel titled ‘Culinary Crossroads: Leveraging Global Cuisine and Fusion Trends’.

Experts delved into the evolution and diversity of the UAE’s F&B sector over the past quarter-century.

A key consensus emerged: immense opportunities lie in exporting homegrown UAE culinary concepts and nurturing local talent. Despite the market’s diversity, there remains significant potential for unique, immersive experiences and innovative casual dining options.
Amit Arora, Chief Operating Officer at Arada, highlighted the UAE’s rapid culinary ascent: “For a country that is only 50 years old, it is incredible to see how the UAE has built such a diverse F&B culture in that time where other mature markets around the world have taken generations to get there. We have over 200 nationalities that live in this country, so it is truly a melting pot, and now it has become an incubation centre where you are able to mix and match. There’s fusion, there’s homegrown concepts, and because of this, there is a strong desire to export.”

Miguel Silva, Corporate F&B Director at Azizi Developments, emphasised the evolving guest demand for more than just a view – customers now seek a distinct culinary experience. He shared insights into the future of F&B at the upcoming Burj Azizi, stating, “Don’t make the view your USP. People need to go in and say, ‘wow, this is something truly unique’.”

This commitment to innovation ensures that UAE hotels and resorts remain at the forefront of global luxury and culinary excellence.

Gharieni Middle East’s RLX Satori Wellness Lounger: This state-of-the-art lounger offers complete natural vibrational and binaural sound therapy, designed to synchronise body and mind. It represents a significant step forward in hotel wellness amenities and luxury spa equipment.

The Smart Integration of Technology: Maintaining the Human Touch

The HITEC Conference, in partnership with HFTP, convened a panel of industry experts to discuss the critical importance of strategically implementing technology. The consensus was clear: a holistic approach considering people, timing, and resources is essential when adopting new technologies in UAE hotels.
William Costley, Chief Operating Officer at TIME Hotels, stressed the need for scalable and flexible hotel technology. “Longevity is key, and many investors focus on flashy solutions; however, it’s essential to choose technology that can withstand the test of time.” He also highlighted the importance of often-overlooked metrics like “Return on Entertainment” and “Return on Loyalty,” emphasising that digital transformation in hospitality is a 360-degree approach.
The Hotel Show features a dedicated section on hospitality technology, offering invaluable insights into how innovative solutions can enhance guest experiences, streamline operations, and drive long-term growth for hospitality businesses in the UAE.
Viju Varma, Head of IT at Jumeirah Hotels and Resorts, offered a compelling perspective on integrating technology while preserving the essential “human touch” in luxury hotels. “At Jumeirah, we use technology to enhance – not replace – the human touch. Our online check-in enables guests to complete formalities from the comfort of their own homes, while still offering personal interaction upon arrival. With mobile key access and streamlined on-site check-ins, we strike a balance between convenience and connection, creating a seamless yet meaningful guest experience.”
The Hotel Show 2025 continues to be the definitive platform for hotel suppliers, F&B innovators, and hospitality professionals in the UAE and wider MENA region, driving forward the future of the industry.
