Kantami Japanese Izakaya Opens Second Saudi Location in Nawaf Square Riyadh

Dubai, UAE:  Kantami, a Japanese izakaya by Green Sand Concepts, has expanded to Riyadh with a new opening in Nawaf Square. The venue follows its Al Khobar debut with a post-apocalyptic aesthetic featuring exposed brick, tinted glass and industrial murals. 

Culinary Selection

Kantami by Green Sand Concepts brings its post-apocalyptic Japanese izakaya theme to Riyadh’s Nawaf Square, featuring traditional techniques and modern interiors.

The menu at Kantami is based on traditional Japanese techniques with modern adaptations. Appetisers include Roripoppu Prawn lollipops, while the main course selection features Azabu Salmon Donburi, which pairs miso-butter-glazed salmon with dashi-simmered onions and rice. Other options include Kunsei Yakiudon, consisting of slow-braised beef short ribs with smoked teriyaki noodles, and Katsukarẽ Gold, a combination of chicken katsu and homemade curry. The beverage programme focuses on a series of eclectic mocktails, including colour-changing varieties, alongside a selection of signature desserts.

Green Sand Concepts Expansion

Kantami by Green Sand Concepts brings its post-apocalyptic Japanese izakaya theme to Riyadh’s Nawaf Square, featuring traditional techniques and modern interiors.

Founded by Fahad Alturki, Green Sand Concepts developed Kantami to provide a narrative-driven dining model within the Saudi Arabian market. Alturki states that the Riyadh location aims to bridge traditional Japanese cuisine with experiential storytelling. The restaurant operates on a reservation basis, which can be managed through the MyTable platform. This opening marks a continued expansion for the studio as it establishes more ingredient-led Japanese dining outlets in the region.
