Expanding the African Gateway

Under the new partnership, Turkish Airlines will place its TK flight code on SAA-operated flights across several of Africa’s most vital destinations. This expansion provides Turkish Airlines’ guests with effortless access to: Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban; Port Elizabeth and Windhoek; Harrare, Victoria Falls, and Mauritius.

Conversely, South African Airways will place its SA code on selected Turkish Airlines flights connecting Istanbul with Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban, as well as major European hubs including Frankfurt, Paris, and London.

Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of Turkish Airlines, commented: “Our codeshare agreement with South African Airways is a meaningful step in further strengthening our presence in the African market. As the largest non-African airline operating on the continent, we attach great importance to partnerships that cultivate long-term value for our guests.”

A Strategic Alliance for Tourism and Trade

For South African Airways, the collaboration represents a vital step in expanding competitive and reliable services. Prof. John Lamola, CEO of SAA, noted: “Turkish Airlines is a respected global carrier, and this collaboration reflects our shared commitment to strengthening connectivity. Partnerships of this nature play an important role in supporting tourism, trade, and sustainable economic growth.”

Turkish Airlines continues to solidify its position as a leader in African aviation, currently serving 65 destinations across 41 countries on the continent. This new alliance further bolsters that reach, granting SAA guests access to Turkish Airlines’ unparalleled global network, which spans 355 destinations across 131 countries.
